You may have known that some coffee tag labels show the fact that their coffee beans are one hundred percent Arabica. Even though it does not seem like something which magicians say, it is not gibberish-it does refer to the kinds of coffee species in which the beans are obtained from.

The Differences Every Coffee Drinker Should Know

First, often Robusta has its flavor described as burned tires or rubbery that sounds rather disgusting. One particular reason that the flavour is not as good for Robusta is that it possesses more caffeine content compared to its counterpart.

Which might sound like positive thing but caffeine carries bitter taste making it somewhat unpleasant drink. Robusta, in fact, has only 7% caffeine, which is almost double that of Arabica.

Also, there is significant differences in terms of lipid and sugar content. As aforementioned here, Arabica has nearly 60% more lipids and nearly twice the concentration of sugar than does Robusta. This particular factor also has massive impact on why we are fond of the taste of Arabica beans.

From the price perspectives, the green beans of Robusta coffee is just about half the price of Arabica green beans on the market commodity, including Arabica vs Robusta. Some people prefer Arabica over its counterpart as the former is easier to tend to on farm, possesses higher yield, and is also less sensitive to pest or insects.

All of these factors help bring up the overall supply and lower the input cost for coffee farmers to produce. With this more interesting cost point, lots of roasters lack in the day would otherwise add Robusta beans to their mixture or blend to reduce the cost and enhance the profit.

When coffee was initially marketed in the 1900s, the quality of coffee beans slowly deteriorated in an attempt for manufacturers to minimize the most profit.

Now, let us have a look at the appearance. Robusta beans are way much more circular, whereas Arabica seem more overall. The plant height is also different. Arabica is commonly grown between 2.5 to 4.5 meters as compared to the 4.5 to 6 meter height of Robusta coffee.

The acid content is also different. Something which is actually part of coffee is the chlorogenic acid. It is significant antioxidant and insect deterrent. Arabica has 5.5 to 8% CGA, while Robusta has 7 50 10% CGA. The last point to note has to do with the fact that about 75% of the global coffee production is Arabica, and about only 25% being Robusta.

In this regard, Brazil is the most significant Arabica producer and Vietnam is country with the most Robusta production.
